When a parent and family members engage with LiFE they:
Learn how to read to their child and the benefits of reading from birth to age 9. Learn how to Sing- Talk- Activity-Read to their newborn, toddler, and Pre-K child. Learn how to use letter sounds to form words and read to their child each night.
Learn that school has a direct impact on their child's academic future.
Receive information on where to find available resources to address their needs.
Learn how to use games and toys to teach and have fun.
Learn the pitfalls and how to use social media platforms and AI.
Learn how to use social media platforms for educational purposes as well as entertainment.
OVER 200 FAMILIES attend multiple workshops and receive 3-5 books for reading to their children at the Pre- Natal and well-baby clinics in rural Jamaica, WI in 2024
OVER 300 FAMILIES attend multiple workshops at street fairs, as well as community and faith-based organization outreaches in 2024
The parents work with the teachers and Family Navigators as they practice during the week
The teacher prepares the parents on the practice assignment to prevent the "holiday slide"
We engage with organizations to provide opportunities for parents and families living in under-resourced communities help their children learn to read
90% of students are present for Saturday tutoring.
Starting in September 2022, LiFE partnered with two faith-based organizations to implement a tutoring reading program for students reading below grade level and three Pop Up parent workshops.
Getting books in the home for parents to read to their children in our 1 2 3 Books in the Home Lending Program. Twenty-five primary and basic schools received fiction and non-fiction readers to build their school libraries.

Students receive tutoring weekly or attend a pull-out reading intervention program 2 hours a week
Workshops are provided for all parents whose children are reading below grade level to train them how to read and assist their children in the home and at school
Life collaborates with faith-based and community organizations to address the literacy needs of children. Families living in this complex will have access to a lending library. Life understands that families need to learn how to read to their children, so we engage in Literacy Works workshops.

LIFE's Family Navigators
Family Navigators communicate with and organize parents to attend workshops and meetings and distribute books to students in 1 2 3 Books in the Home Lending Library program. Family Navigators also serve as a liaison between the parents and the teachers focusing on increasing parental involvement in their child's educational experiences
LIFE's 1 2 3 Books In The Home Lending Library Program ensures that every student will be reading a book in their home and participate in weekly exchange of library books.
